PICS Study Group comprises of members interested in carrying out research.
Membership of PICS-SG is open to any member of PICS. The group is chaired by Dr Mark Peters, based at The Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, London. If you are interested in starting a study that would involve other members of PICS or other PICUs then you might like to contact Mark (

Outcomes: Two manuscripts submitted – publication is awaited. Research proposal for a randomised controlled trial (RCT) studying clonidine prepared.

Traumatic Brain Injury Group
Outcomes: One manuscript accepted (Archives of Disease in Childhood), three other papers pending submission.

Cardiac Intensive Care Group
Outcomes: Discussion with the UK group coordinating a European neonatal trial of glycaemic-control has already taken place. The steering group met in July 2005.

This group has started data collection nationally and will then develop expert consensus guidelines.
