Joint Statement from the Society of British Neurological Surgeons (SBNS) and the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) Regarding the Provision of Emergency Paediatric Neurosurgical Services |
Endorsed by the: Association of Anaesthetists [AAGBI]; Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists [APA]; Intensive Care Society (ICS); Neuroanaesthesia Society [NASGBI]; Paediatric Intensive care Society [PICS]; Prof Keith Willett. In March 2009 Professor Sir Bruce Keogh (NHS Medical Director) asked the National pecialised Commissioning Group (NSCG) to review the delivery of paediatric neurosurgical services in England nd develop robust proposals that would secure safe and sustainable world class services for children and their families. Included in this work was the request to develop Service Standards. The review process has highlighted concerns about the neurosurgical management of some children requiring emergency surgery under the present system. Link to Full Statement Click Here |

Welcome to the Paediatric Intensive Care Society website. The Society was founded in 1987 as a multidisciplinary forum for those involved and interested in paediatric intensive care, with the following aims: - To promote training and education, with the aim of stimulating research and promoting collaborative studies.
- To provide a forum for discussion
- To provide specialist advice
- To collect information through the council of the society
- To provide a focus for paediatric intensive care in the UK
We encourage applications for memberships from any person actively involved in paediatric intensive care or involved in work contributing to the paediatric intensive care field. |
